More about this competition.

The Sci-Tech Fair is one of two events on the STEM Festival, which provides a platform for Ghanaian youth to exhibit their ingenuity in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The fair allows students, as well as tech start-ups, to apply their knowledge and understanding of science concepts studied in the classroom to produce solutions or inventions that could solve problems in Ghana.
The Sci-Tech Fair has two components: the Sci-Tech Fair Exhibition and the Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge. The exhibition brings together STEM-based organisations, students, as well as tech start-ups to display already-built projects for public viewing. Aside from that, there is an experiential stand where visitors to the fair, as well as participants, get to try their hands on simple science experiments under supervision.

The Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge, on the other hand, is a competition among senior high school students only. Without the assistance of their teachers, these students must build innovative projects from start to finish in approximately nine hours.
This aspect of the fair aims to make the event more exciting and competitive, giving students extra mileage to explore their creativity and challenge themselves in the practical aspect of science and technology.
In 2022, Obuasi SHTS emerged winners of the Challenge for the second consecutive time with their solar-powered automatic waste segregation bin.
