The Ghana police service has arrested a ride hailing driver who was later identified as an officer. The police officer who was off duty is alleged to have shot a male adult at Koans Estate near Kuntunse in Accra on Sunday 18th August 2024.
The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday following and alleged confrontation between the diseased identified as Stanley Ahadzi and General Constable Smith Gakye over a disputed fair.
The body of the diseased is currently deposited at the police hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the suspect is in police custody as part of the investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile the inspector general of police Dr George Dampare and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) have visited the family of the disease to commence a rate with them and assured them that the incident will be fully investigated and the officer involved will be made to face justice.
A police clinical psychologist and other offices have been assigned to the family to support them through this difficult time. Once again, we would like to assure the public, especially the family, that just this world will be safe.
