Pass 2024 BECE/WASSCE English Language Paper

To pass the 2024 BECE/WASSCE English Language Paper, candidates must be creative writers in terms of their essays.

The 2024 BECE and WASSCE will be significant exams for candidates, and in terms of the English language, they must demonstrate good creativity, understand the demands of the essay question, and be adept at lying.

English composition questions are the only ones that permit learners to tell education-appropriate lies as they write their compositions.

While creative lies are allowed, candidates must adhere to the essay writing guidelines and make sure their essays meet the “COME” marking criteria.
C : Content: Candidates get a maximum of 5 marks here.
O: Organization: Candidates get a maximum of 10 marks here.
M: Mechanical Accuracy: Candidates get a maximum of 5 marks here.
E: Expression: Candidates get a maximum of 10 marks here.

We will judge and mark each creative liar in essay form based on the aforementioned criteria.

We advise candidates to understand the question they choose to answer.
They must be able to tell whether the question is a formal letter, a friendly letter, a narrative essay, a descriptive essay, an article for publication, etc.

If a candidate fails to determine the exact type of essay a question falls under, it can result in the use of an incorrect or mixed-up format or organization, as well as incorrect vocabulary and grammar choices, which can also lead to deviations.

Regardless of the essay you select, keep the following in mind:

Content: This measures how well you’ve answered the question. It awards marks for the main body of the essay or composition you have written.
Organization: It rewards candidates who adhere to the predetermined structure of the selected essay type. Master the format of each straightforward type before you enter the examination hall.
Mechanical Accuracy: This section measures your language skills and understanding, including spelling, punctuation, crossing your “t,” and dotting your “i,” among other things. It also scrutinizes your grammar to some extent. Each wrong error attracts -0.5.
Expression: It considers, among other things, your SVA, sentence structure, simple, compound, and complex sentences. We will penalize essays that are poorly written and contain errors.

Candidates preparing for the WASSCE and BECE this year can use these examples of essays.

  1. Write a letter to your friend in another country explaining three reasons why you don’t want to leave your country.
  2. The temperature in Ghana is becoming unbearable. Write a letter to the Ministry of Environment, suggesting three ways to deal with this.
  3. As a member of the Green Earth Club, write an article for publication on three reasons Ghana experiences annual flooding and suggest solutions.
  4. Write a letter to your newly found pen pal and explain three things you don’t like and why.
  5. You witnessed a frightening fight between two men in your community. Tell the police officer who arrived at the scene what you saw.
  6. Write a letter seeking employment as a creative arts expert in a graphic and design center. Provide two compelling reasons for your employment.
  7. Narrate a story to illustrate the expression “Never give up in life.”
  8. A creative art event has invited you to speak on the theme “Creative Arts are Important.” Write down the speech you will deliver.
