The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has received an additional GHS 35 million from the government as part of the payment of the GHS 118 million owed to the council. In total, the government has so far paid GHS 60 million, leaving an outstanding balance of GHS 58 million yet to be settled.

The additional payment has been described as a welcome development. WAEC has indicated that it will work on finalizing and releasing the results before the end of the year, bringing some relief to students and stakeholders.

This assurance means WAEC will need to address all pending issues and release the results within five days of the year’s end.

However, Peter Nortsu Kotoe has charged the government to settle the remaining GHS58 million arrears owed to the council before the goverment leaves office.  He added that the goverment should not pass on the debt to the incomingJohn Mahama led NDC goverment. 

Mr. John Kapi, WAEC’s Director of Public Affairs, confirmed the receipt of the GHS 35 million during a media briefing. He outlined WAEC’s commitment to releasing the results promptly but did not disclose a specific date. Additionally, he neither confirmed nor denied the 29th December date announced by the Minister of Education.

The release of the results will allow universities and other tertiary institutions to complete their admissions processes, providing clarity for prospective students.

In a related development, KNUST will reopen school for all continuing students on January 11th, 2025 while international students are to report on January 4th, 2025

How to check 2024 WASSCE results online when it is released

To check your result online, follow this simple guide

1. Enter your Index Number.
2. Select the Type of Examination (e.g.  WASSCE).
   
3. Select your Examination Year eg. 2003.
4. Enter the Serial Number found on the Voucher.
5. Enter the 12-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Voucher eg. 012345678912.
6. Confirm your Index Number and Examination Year. This is to ensure that your examination information is correct.
7. Click on Submit and wait for the display in the popup window. This may take several minutes.
