Will the 2025 BECE be difficult?” What a question from students… Well, this is one of the many questions we’ve been receiving from students.
The scheduled dates for the 2025 BECE are June 9th to June 16th, 2025. In this post, we will attempt to address the concerns of learners who are worried about the question, “Is the 2025 BECE going to be difficult?”
While we cannot provide a definitive answer, we would like to assure you that WAEC, as an examining body, employs examiners with extensive experience who are capable of setting and administering questions appropriate for candidates. The questions for each year are not only level-appropriate but also carefully designed to ensure the difficulty level aligns with the curriculum. If a question is perceived as too difficult for learners, it may indicate that the candidate is underprepared or that the topics examined were poorly taught by the subject teacher, indirectly affecting the learners’ ability to respond.
Therefore, the level of difficulty or ease of the questions should not significantly differ from previous BECE examinations.
Since this year’s exam is the second of its kind for candidates under the new Common Core Curriculum, students, teachers, schools, and parents are understandably nervous and anxious. However, they are better positioned than their 2024 counterparts, who lacked past BECE questions to rely on.
The sample questions released by WAEC and NaCCA for BECE candidates in 2024, along with the 2024 BECE questions themselves, should provide schools, teachers, and learners with sufficient material to assess their readiness.
Although the first BECE under the new curriculum has been conducted, and numerous mock papers following the format from Education-News Consult have been available for sale since 2024, uncertainty persists among many stakeholders due to the critical thinking, application, and case study question types.
Many candidates are struggling with these question types, with only about two months remaining until the 2025 BECE. The uncertainty intensifies as the exam date approaches.
However, regardless of the concerns, teachers, candidates, schools, and parents must continue to prepare for the exam with confidence.
They must utilize the 2025 Education-News Consult Mock questions and answers, sample questions from WAEC and NaCCA, and the high-quality 2024 mocks from Education-News Consult, all of which are designed to reflect the exam format.
Will the 2025 BECE be difficult? The exam will ultimately tell. However, parents and teachers must continue to inspire their candidates, encourage them, and provide the necessary emotional support as they prepare for this significant examination.
The quality of preparation candidates receive will significantly influence their exam outcome.
Some have attempted to answer the question, “Is the 2025 BECE going to be difficult?” by suggesting that the exam will be easy because a new government might want candidates sitting the first BECE under its rule to excel. However, this is not the case. WAEC is an independent examination body and will not lower its standards to artificially inflate pass rates.
Others believe that because this is the second exam under the new curriculum, it will be easier. This is merely their opinion.
These are just public speculations. WAEC will undoubtedly maintain its professional standards to avoid any examination disputes.
We urge candidates to remain focused and to continue receiving training and guidance.
