The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has assured of its readiness to conduct the 2024 BECE for final-year students at the Junior High School level. We have scheduled the examination from Monday, July 8th, to Monday, July 15th, 2024.
According to WAEC, the government’s outstanding debts to the council will not negatively impact their services. John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, clarified in a Citi News interview that the government had paid GH55.8 million of the total amounts owed as of Thursday, July 4, sufficient to conduct the examination.
WAEC reports that 569,095 candidates from 19,506 schools will take the 2024 BECE.
We can assure everyone that we began dispatching our staff to the various examination centres on the 4th of July, where they were to maintain depots and organise examinations. So, yes, we are giving the assurance that the exams will go on as plannedJ
“So far, we received about 55, 800, 000 from the government, and that is adequate for us to be able to, conduct the examination successfully. For now, whatever we received is, with regards to BECE.”
“…So, certainly, we have enough funds for us to be able to conduct the examination. And as I indicated earlier, plans are far advanced for the release of, you know, more funds to enable us, you know, go through the process and, you know, release the results,” he stated.
