Prior to the new curriculum, students of general arts were often the only students who had the option of studying one or two languages as part of their electives. With the new curriculum, there would be a language programme just as there is a business or science programme.
The newly introduced SHS language program and subjects will follow the format of the others under the new curriculum. Thus, language students will study a maximum of 11 subjects over their three-year study.
Interestingly, the major subjects of the Language programme are languages (Local and foreign languages); however, students would have the option of choosing subjects such as Art & Design Studio, and Applied Technology. Design & Communication Technology, Home Economics, Performing Arts and Business Studies among others.
