There is a New SHS Academic Calendar Changes coming with Key Dates Updated For BECE Graduates, SHS1 and SHS2 Students.
The Education-News Consult has sighted a letter from a reliable source outlining new changes in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic calendars for SHS1-3 students. These changes have become necessary to help bring to an end the 2023-2024 calendar for SSH1 and SHS2 students still in school.
The changes outlined cover the reporting date for 2024 BECE graduates who will report to school as SHS1 students this year, as well as the vacation date for SHS2 students who are still in school in their 2023-2024 academic year. Per the letter sighted, admission of 2024 BECE graduates will start on 30th October 2024.
In a related development, the results of BECE graduates are expected to be released before the end of October 2024. The release will be followed by the release of the 2024 school placement for all candidates. However, those who are not placed but passed will have to use the self-placement module.
However, the academic calendar for SHS1 and SHS2 students currently in school will end on October 28, 2024. On that same day, all students in SHS will be promoted to SHS2. They will begin their 2024-2025 academic year as Form 2 students on the same day. This means SHS1 students in school now will vacate but remain in school until they end their SHS2 term 1 or semester 1 in December 2024.

Kindly be informed that the rest of the 2023-2024 school calendar has been revised with urgency as follows:.
- Monday, 28th October: SHS2 students leave for vacation. This will end their academic year with the end-of-semester exams.
- Monday, 28th October: SHS1 students end the academic year and will instantly be promoted to SHS2 on the same day to begin a new academic year (2024-2025).
- Wednesday, 30th October 2024: Admission of 2024 BECE candidates into SHS1
What SHS1 admission date means is that, the BECE results will be released before 30th October, 2024
