The education news consult has received a reliable update regarding the 2024 BECE script marking date as well as the date for the start of school selection. According to our deep-throat source, a meeting was held on the two issues above via Zoom today, August 23, 2024.
New 2024 BECE Marking Date Out
The BECE marking processes will commence from September 17th to September 18th, 2024, with the zonal coordination activities.
This will be followed by the main coordination for marking the 2024 BECE scripts from September 19th to the 21st of September 2024.
However, the BECE conference market will start on September 21 and end on October 11, 2024, to bring to an end the marking of BECE scripts, which has been delayed as a result of the government’s inability to fund WAEC to undertake the process.
2024 School Selection Updates
The much-anticipated school selection has been scheduled to start in the last week of August 2024.
This process will begin on Monday, August 26, 2024, with the training of heads of schools and their IT staff who will be in charge of the system. The training will end on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Parents and students will start the actual school selection on Wednesday, 28th August.
It’s important for parents, schools, and guardians to note that all school selection protocols remain the same as was the case in 2023.
This means that candidates are more likely to select up to 11 schools for which they should be considered when school placement is done.
The total will be divided into sets 1 and 2, containing 6 and 5 schools, respectively.
The Ghana Education Services (GES) is expected to release the forms for school selection as well as the new list or files containing schools that have been categorized into Category A, Category B, Category C, and Category D. In these categories, students and parents will find schools that are categorized across secondary schools, technical schools, vocational schools, and stem schools in the coming days.
A pre-school selection education is expected to be organized for all stakeholders before the school selection starts.

“God willing, the Metro Education Directorate will organize a one-day sensitization program on the 2024 CSSPS on Monday, August 26th, and Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, for headteachers and or ICT teachers who are in charge of BECE in their schools. The program will start at exactly 9:00 am. Please note that there will be no waiting period for any school or individual.” A notice on the school selection to heads stated.
With the delay in the start of marking and the school selection, the GES is expected to revise its September 27 reopening date and announce a new date.
