Do you know the new and accepted way to change 2024 school placement and place unplaced students?
A day after SHS1 students resumed classes, many BECE graduates still have unresolved issues with their results, want to change schools, or have not yet received placements.
The reporting date for SHS1 students was 7th November; however, students will be reporting through Friday, 8th November, until everyone placed and enrolled has reported to school.
The 2024 school placement guide is designed to assist students who wish to change schools or who are unplaced.
This post, serving as a 2024 school placement guide for school changes and unplaced students, will assist both parents and students in taking the appropriate steps. It is important that parents use this process to get issues resolved. Do not entrust this task to your already stressed BECE graduate.
To use this process, follow the steps below.
- Write down or plan what you want to tell the GES about your school placement (at best, write the points down briefly).
- Identify three schools you want to be considered for by the GES. If you want the GES to help you, choose schools based on your raw score and grades, not your preferences.
- Select the type of accommodation you wish to be considered for; day accommodations are easier to secure than boarding school accommodations.
- Get enough call credit on your mobile phone to ensure your conversation with the GES school placement call center does not end when you start one with them.
- Call the school placement call center at 0308258001.
- When you call, identify yourself and go straight to your issue. The officer at the GES-TVET call center will provide you with information.
- Let the officer know the schools you have in mind and mention the names of the ones you wrote down before calling them. However, remember that they may suggest schools for you based on those available in their database. If those available match your choices, go ahead and accept or choose from those they have.

Final Tip
After filing the complaint, you might receive a request to call back in a few days or to verify your placement correction on the school placement portal. Make sure to follow the instructions, and if the correction has not taken effect, reach out to the GES-TVET call center once more for assistance.
You must persistently go through this process to ensure you get the solution you need.
