How 2024 BECE Candidates Can Make Grade 1 in Every Subject

Final 2024 BECE Mock from How 2024 BECE Candidates Can Make Grade 1 in Every Subject

The 2024 BECE will begin on July 8th, 2024, and students are preparing for it, but the question is, “How can 2024 BECE candidates easily make grade 1 in each of the subjects they will be writing?”

Master all the most important general facts in each subject. This will help you score high marks in each subject’s objective test exam section. Note that Section A alone has 40 marks for each project. Every 2024 BECE candidate who wants to make grade 1 in every subject must first aim at scoring at least 35/40 in Section A of the exam. At worst, you must score 30/40 in every subject.

How do you select the correct objective test answer during the BECE?

Remember that our goal is to score no less than 30/40, and the higher the scores in this section, the greater your chance of doing well.

General Advice: Always read the objective test questions well and eliminate two answers from the alternative letters A-D. Then carefully examine the remaining two answers and choose the best one.

Step One: Read the question carefully.

Step Two: Carefully do your best to understand the question you have read. Pay close attention to the terms and phrases used in the question.

Step Three: Read the alternatives well and cancel all obvious wrong answers.

Step Four: After eliminating the two incorrect answers, you will have one correct answer and one incorrect answer. This will increase your chances of picking the correct answer.

Analyse the two remaining options.

Step Five: Compare the two answers and think about how they relate to the question, or better yet, answer the question.

Step Six: Select the option that best fits the question based on your analysis.

Remember that choosing the correct answer is not enough. Do well to shade with the WAEC-supplied pencil, and shade very well. Poor shading can cause you to lose marks.

According to WAEC, “In all circumstances, candidates must shade index numbers and answer well. “The scoring machine can only read pencil marks; therefore, it is necessary that you use only the 2B pencil in shading your index number and objective test answers.”

Choosing the right questions in Section B

A brilliant student can choose the wrong question and perform poorly, just as a low-average student can choose the right question and do well.

During the examination, all students never choose so-called difficult questions.

Choose the questions you can answer very well.

Read the questions and understand the requirements.

Pay attention to the marks allocated to each sub-question and write well-thought-out answers.

Do not use short phrases and one-word answers unless the question demands the listing of answers that are in themselves one-word answers. For instance, if the question asks you to list three tools, feel free to do so. However, if the question asks you to list three benefits of, say, rivers to Ghana, avoid using one-word answers or answers with fewer than eight words.

You must target at least 45/60 in Section B of each subject to stand a chance of making a good grade and an excellent raw score.

Students who write lazy answers will fail the exam or perform poorly.

Always read through your answers and correct errors such as spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, and facts that are not complete or well-written.

Support the answers with examples.

When asked for a difference between two or more terms, use a table to distinguish between them.

Do not forget to use the correct units of measurement.

Always ensure that your handwriting is clear and simple to read.

Always demonstrate your work in every mathematical answer, regardless of the subject. Therefore, all answers in Section B that require you to solve questions mathematically must include a detailed explanation of how you arrived at the answer.

These tips shared here are very important if you are to do well in the 2024 BECE.
