People generally believe that politics have destroyed the Ghana Education Service, but what’s more concerning is that the GES and the MoE have attempted to conceal information from the public about school reopening and vacation dates, as well as the release of appointment letters for graduate teachers.
Qualified graduate professional teachers who applied for recruitment are still waiting for the release of the postings. The appointment letters have been pending in the corridors of power and politics.
This singular act means so many schools that need the services of the teachers are handicapped while the teachers yet to be posted on a date obly God knows are not able to practice their trade and bring to bare their knowledge and expertise in the classrooms and schools.
Paa Akwasi, a graduate teacher who was worried about the delays in release appointment letters, asked, “When is your outfit releasing the appointment letters for graduate recruitment?”
Another worried educator, Barnie Isaac, who is ready to work and improve on the education sector in his profession but was yet to be posted as a graduate teacher, also quized, “When are you people releasing the appointment letters for the graduates teachers?”
At the time of this publication, teachers and students do not know the exact date for reopening for students who will be in SHS soon, as well as the reopening date for single-track SHS students who are currently at home on vacation. Students who are in single-track SHS2 and SHS3 are still home. They do not know when school will reopen for them.
“We don’t know when SHS 2 and 3 are going back to school. I mean, the single-track schools, when are they reporting?” Enoch Kwaku Cobbinah asked.
For not communicating any meaningful information and dates to teachers and students, everyone is stressed and worried and wondering if the GES is a human needs-centred and proactive institution.
Teachers took to the GES official Facebook page to lament about how party faithfuls have been put in charge of the management of education without any progress and work to shpw for.
“They just put party people who don’t know anything in charge. Common academic timetable too; you can’t prepare. What’s your use in that office?” One Mike Mickson said in his comment.
One Bright Nti added his voice to the call and charged the GES to release appointment letters. “Please, GES release the posting of the graduate teachers,” he said as he pleaded for their release.
Upon all the questions, the GES is yet to make any official statement on the two issues of interest to the stakeholders.
