GES Orders Reposted Teachers to Return to Previous Schools Without Additional Details As To The Exact Reasons For The Decision.
The Ghana Education Service (GES), in a letter sighted by Educationnewsconsult.com, has directed all teachers who requested and got approval for reposting to return to their previous schools with immediate effect.
The letter, which was signed by the District Director of Education for Keta Municipal, further suggests that the directive affects only teachers within the said municipality.
However, not all teachers reposted into the Keta Municipal are affected by the directive. The directive affects “all teachers who were reposted within the municipality.”… but excludes teachers who requested reposting by themselves or came into the municipality by intra-regional/district posting.

Re: Reposting of Teachers: GES Orders Reposted Teachers to Return
With reference to a correspondence from the officer of the Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES), Accra, through the Regional Director, I write to inform all teachers who were reposted within the municipality to return to their previous schools with immediate effect.
By this letter, you are expected to report back to your previous schools by Tuesday, 24th September 2024.
Your previous head teacher when you are returning is to notify the office in writing of the date you reported and resume duty at the said school.
Note: Teachers who requested reposting by themselves or came into the municipality by intra-regional/District posting are all exempted from this exercise.

Some teachers have reacted to the directive, indicating that the same issue did not arise in their districts. For instance, Tweneboah-Koduah Daniel, reacting to the post, said, “Great. But Amenfi West Municipal Director has not withdrawn her reposting following the Director General’s directives.”
However, Harrison Torwudzo, who was not so excited about the reposting directive, had this to say. “And what is the aim of this letter? That district director doesn’t have any authority to reshuffle teachers for the exigencies of the work or what. If reposting is not done at the beginning of the year, when exactly should be the appropriate time? People apply for release and reposting, which is supposed to take effect in this first term, but as we speak, we don’t know when that will be done; we are in the 3rd week of the term. What’s wrong with the managers of education in this country? Are they thinking about the profession and those employed in it, or is it all about being bossy?
