GES holds first staff durbar for 2024

GES first staff durbar

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has held its first staff durbar for the year 2024. The durbar brought together staff of the service at the headquarters of the GES as well as other stakeholders.

The durbar provided the service staff with a rare opportunity and platform for engagement, concern-sharing, and alignment with the mission and vision of the service.

At the programme, the leadership of GES, including Dr. Erick Nkansah, the Director-General, the PR Unit, and the HR Division, highlighted key updates and initiatives undertaken by the GES.

The programme was also used to unveil a new GES visual identity. The visual identity, according to the GES, aligns with the Government of Ghana’s harmonisation efforts in ensuring all GoG ministries and agencies have a common front.

According to the GES, the national availing done at the durbar will be followed by a series of regional and district-level engagements on the new identity. The GES has, however, yet to announce the dates for the regional and district-level engagements.

Still, at the first staff durbar for 2024, staff members of the service were also introduced to the GES Management Information System (GES-MIS), designed to enhance monitoring and supervision through a comprehensive staff database.

In a related development, the graduate teachers and diploma-holding teachers who have obtained all the requirements for posting have been knocking on the doors of the Ghana Education Service for posting purposes. The teachers have resorted to commenting on their frustration and expectations on every post published by the GES on its Facebook page.

The GES is yet to make an official statement on the issue, including the delayed promotion of junior ranks in the service. The GES is also expected to provide updates on school selection for BECE graduates who complete their 2024 BECE on 15th July 2024.
