The WAEC 2024 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for senior high school final-year students ends today. 460,611 candidates, comprising 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools, took the examination at 1,000 centers nationwide.

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, has, as part of his duties, toured some of the centres in Accra. His trip took him to the Labone Senior High School (SHS) exam center.

Before the year ends, WAEC will conduct the next examination in November and December of 2024. We expect the exam registration to close on September 30, 2024.

The WASSCE for school candidates started on August 5 but officially ends on Friday, September 20, 2024. Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, West Africa Traditional Studies, and Chemistry are the final papers before the examination closes on September 20.

Stephen Abamfo, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, accompanied the D-G of the GES during the tour.

During the tour, Dr. Nkansah expressed satisfaction with the examination’s conduct. He took the opportunity to appreciate the hard work WAEC and its team are doing on the ground.

“I am satisfied with the conduct of this examination,” Dr. Nkansah said, expressing satisfaction with the general conduct of the exam.

The DG of the GES was impressed by the “serene environment” at the Labone SHS, where the candidates were writing Integrated Science, at the time he visited.

The WAEC’s 2024 Private WASSCE, popularly known as 2024 NovDec, is expected to be written from November to December this year; however, the timetable has yet to be released, and registration ends on September 30, 2024.
