How are the BECE results graded?
The second question we seek to answer is: How are the BECE results graded?
- Students are expected to make good raw scores for placement, but both the raw scores (that is, the marks obtained in each subject) and the aggregate of the four core subjects and performance from two other subjects.
- The six subjects (core and the best two other subjects) also determine the total raw score of candidates.
- Core subjects are so important, and your grades and raw scores from these subjects will determine your final aggregate and raw score.
Below is the grade likely to be used by WAEC for the 2024 BECE.

Students should take note of the following:
- Poor or low raw scores will negatively affect your placement, and you may be asked to use the self-placement option even if your grades are good.
- Grade 9 in mathematics, English language, or both will mean no placement for you, no matter your grades in other subjects.
- If you pass and qualify for placement as a boarding student for a given school, yet the school only has accommodation for the same program for day students, you will not be placed.

Where to check the 2024 BECE results and how to check
WAEC has a dedicated BECE-resulting checking site for 2024-2026 BECE. This is the only official site for checking any BECE result in Ghana. This site is https://eresults.waecgh.org
Important: You have to be very careful when checking the result.
If you make a mistake with your index number or you enter the wrong index number or the wrong code or click submit to check too often when the site is not loading, your checker will not work any longer, and that will require that you buy a new result checker.
When the results are released and everyone is trying to check them, the website often slows down. This makes it difficult to check the result and creates problems.
The best time to check the results and avoid the problem where the result does not load is to check late at night between 11 p.m. and 3 am.
During this time there is less pressure on the site and the results load faster.
