Following the release of the 2024 BECE for Delta State in Nigeria, the 2024 BECE Resit Examination date for candidates who were not successful has been annonced. The exam is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
A source close to the Education-News Consult in Nigeria while providing updates on the examination indicates that a statement from the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, on behalf of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, said candidates were expected to have concluded their registration for the examination.
The subjects to be administered to candidates retaking 2024 BECE Resit Examination are mathematics and English studies. The examination will not be held at a central location but at each exam centre where the candidates who failed the exam wrote the main examination.
The 2024 BECE Resit Examination is expected to start at exactly 9:00 am across all centres for affected candidates. The candidates must pass the failed English and mathematics papers to progress to the secondary school.

The statement noted that the Commissioner for Secondary Education and the Permanent Secretary would lead officials of the Ministry to monitor the conduct of the examination.
In a related development, the 2024 BECE results for candidates who sat the national exam in Ghana are yet to be released. While states in Nigeria organise resilt examinations a few days or months after the BECE results are released, students who fail the BECE in Ghana have to wait for a year to get the chance to resit the examination as private candidates. This delays their access to secondary education for a whole year, which is not the best.
Ghana’s 2024 BECE results are expected to be released late in October 2024, however, WAEC and the Ghana Education Service are yet to release the official date for the BECE results. Marking is currently underway and is expected to be completed by October 11th, 2024.
