With the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, SHS1 students will be introduced to the New SHS ART Programme and Subjects. The subject area will give learners the chance to study at least 8 subjects and at most 11 subjects during their three years of study. The art programme is one of the new subject areas or programmes introduced. There has not been a specific arts programme such as this one.

Below are the full details of all the subjects to be learnt.
Core Subjects (Group A – Mandatory for All Learners)
These subjects are compulsory for every learner:
- Mathematics
- Social Studies
- English Language
- General Science
- Physical Education and Health (PEH) (Core but not externally examined)
Art Electives (Group B)
Each learner must take the following:
- Art & Design Foundation
Additionally, they must choose one, two, or three of the following subjects:
- Art & Design Studio
- Performing Art
- Design & Communication Technology
- ICT
Additional Electives (Group C)
Learners may choose one or two of the following subjects:
- Applied Technology
- Business Studies
- Home Economics
- Economics
- Geography
- History
- Religious Studies
- Literature in English
- Ghanaian Languages
- Arabic
- French
Humanities (Group D)
Learners may choose one of the following subjects:
- Agriculture
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Computing
- Physics
- Additional Mathematics
- PEH (Elective)
- Agricultural Science
