, The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has officially disclosed that there will be limited senior high school teacher recruitment in early August. He made the announcement through his official Facebook page on August 29, 2024.
The Minister did not provide additional information as to how many teachers will be recruited for the limited posting. There was no information on the subject areas of interest either.
Earlier this month, Education-News Consult informed readers that GES was going to recruit university and diploma graduates; this has been confirmed by the Minister of Education in the post below.
Limited SHS Teacher Recruitment Starts Next Week—Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
The message read:
I’m pleased to announce that a limited recruitment drive for high school teachers will commence next week.
Stay tuned for more details on how to apply and the specific focus areas for this recruitment.
University graduates and diploma holders in education have reacted to the announcement. While some may have welcomed the news, others are of the view that those who will be recruited in the limited posting have already been recruited and that the announcements are a mere formality.
One such message was left by one Walker Gh. He wrote, “The truth of the matter is that most of those “limited teachers” have already been recruited, and just a small space has been reserved for the public. Even with that, unless you have money and connection, else, forget it.”
Others were of the view that the Minister of Education is trying to be smart because he will be presenting the State of Education Address today, the 30th of July; hence, the announcement was made to prevent university graduates who will be present at the programme from booing him. “Today is addressing the state of education in Ghana, and I’m sure he doesn’t want any booing from the university student.” This was according to Kingsley Quaicoe, who also left a comment on the minister’s announcement.

We have been awaiting this information for a long time. We appreciate the first step you have taken to ensure university graduates get recruited to our high schools. We hope that when the portal is opened, everyone will have an equal opportunity to apply. We are eagerly waiting for the portal to be opened. We need this recruitment.
Snatcher Normal Level:
This initiative is commendable and represents a significant stride towards enhancing the quality of education nationwide. We eagerly anticipate further details regarding the application process; however, I believe that all areas warrant equal emphasis in this recruitment drive.
