What Are The Mistakes 2024 BECE Candidate Made In The Exam Hall and The Pending Failure
Let us take a look at the Mistakes 2024 BECE Candidate Made and Pending Failure
Poorly written answers
Candidates who sat the exam were required to explain points well to merit the full marks. It will shock you to know that most of the candidates write answers that are not self-explaning. A careful look at some of the marking schemes shows the following:.
Students who list 4 points in simple sentence form for, say, a 12 or 16-mark question will earn only a maximum of 4 points. This means they earn 1 mark for each instead of obtaining 3 or 4 for each.

If the candidate continues to write these lazy answers, which are so short and contain less useful facts, they are bound to score low and obtain poor grades.
Failure to brainstorm questions
The new curriculum demanded that learners think through questions before responding. Critical thinking and application of knowledge were required. If the student does not read well and fails to reason well, the chances of him or her deviating and giving wrong answers become high. Such students cannot excel in the BECE, and this will reflect in their results.
Poor grammar, spelling, and arrangement of facts
It is one thing knowing the answers, and it is another thing writing them well. If a good answer is written using poor grammar, spelling, and poor arrangement of facts, The examiners will not pardon such candidates while marking the scripts. If you are a candidate who made such mistakes, the chance of your performance deepening or being poor is high.
Definitions with half-backed answers
In some instances, learners were required to explain terms. They were also expected to write answers that are directed at the questions. While some candidates failed to give well-thought-out explanations, others wrote answers that did not provide the kind of meaning the examiners wanted. Such students are likely to score low marks in the subjects they made these mistakes in, especially if they made these mistakes so often.
Poor shading skills and answer choices
Section A of each subject has nearly 40 objectives, which translates into 40 marks for each subject. The objective test answers are marked with a machine called the Specially printed Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)) form or machine. The forms are scanned to produce an electronic data file, which is then marked by the computer.
The problem is that if a candidate shaded poorly or used the wrong pencil to do the shading, the machine will often not detect the shaded answer as correct. This will reduce the total score in the long run.
