Over the years, some BECE candidates and some members of society have believed strange lies or half-truths about BECE results and school placements. Nearly every year, these lies find their way into the public domain, especially among JHS graduates. While some people end up believing these false statements, others have carefully crafted them over the years to either deceive or confuse others.

In this post, we will shed light on 10 lies about BECE results and school placements.

What are the 10 BIG lies about BECE results and school placements?

5 lies about BECE results you must not believe

  1. scripts of private BECE candidates are marked with different marking schemes.
  2. Private BECE candidates are cheated during the marking and grading of BECE candidates.
  3. BECE results change after they are released.
  4. BECE results are changed by WAEC, leading to students seeing different results each time they check.
  5. The result checker can be used to check school placement.

The above five statements are all false about the BECE result. It is important to know that all BECE scripts are marked with the same marking schemes, and there is no form of marking discrimination. Private schools are not cheated in the marking of BECE scripts by examiners, and when results are released, they do not keep changing each time you check. Students who tell you their results have changed are not being truthful. They either do not want to tell you their actual results or they have performed worse than they expected.

5 lies about BECE School Placement You Must Not Believe

  1. GES will change the schools you choose before placing you in them.
  2. You must compulsorily choose a Category A school as your first choice.
  3. The school a candidate has been placed at keeps changing each time it is checked on the CSSPS portal.
  4. You will not be placed in the last-choice school.
  5. When you are placed in a day school, you can easily change to a boarding school.

GES does not change the schools selected. During the data entry at the school level, the data entry officer may make errors, which will lead to the change of school codes entered and the corresponding school chosen, program, or accommodation. Again, sometimes students may change the schools they and their parents have agreed on before submitting the school selection form to the school. In such an instance, the schools selected will never be the same as those submitted, hence the difference.

It is not mandatory to choose your first choice from Category A schools. You will be smarter by choosing your first two choices from category B than by making your first choice from a competitive school. This is favourable because you are not the best among your peers academically. Again, this helps you avoid the competition that comes with choosing Category A schools.

No matter what school you choose, you can be placed in any of them if you meet all the requirements for placement. Always choose schools wisely.
