The government of Ghana has declared Monday, 5th August, 2024 as a Public Holiday. The public holiday is expected to be observed nationwide.
The holiday will be used to mark Founders’ Day which is a Statutory Public Holiday. The holiday, which fell on Sunday, August 4, 2024, will be officially marked on Monday 5th August, 2024.
Ghanaians are to observe the 2024 Founders’ Day as a public holiday. Per this announcement workers will returin to work on Tuesday 6th August when they after Friday 4th August.

FULL RELEASE: DECLARATION OF MONDAY, 5TH AUGUST, 2024 AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY
The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, 4th August, 2024 marks Founders’ Day which is a Statutory Public Holiday.
However, in view of the fact that 4th August, 2024 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 5th August, 2024 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
